Research
Digital Mental Health & Intervention Science
I develop and evaluate scalable digital mental health interventions, including single-session interventions, AI-enabled parenting tools, and school-based mental health platforms. My research examines not only whether these interventions work, but also how they can be designed to maximize engagement, effectiveness, and real-world implementation across diverse populations.
AI & Technology in Mental Health
I study how artificial intelligence can responsibly support the assessment and treatment of mental health disorders. My work includes developing and evaluating AI-powered clinical tools, investigating the safety and performance of large language models in mental health settings, and designing systems that augment, not replace, evidence-based clinical care. Current projects include AI-assisted therapist training and AI-supported cognitive behavioral therapy tools.
Neurobiological Risk for Psychopathology
I examine how the brain responds to threat and uncertainty in adolescents and their families, and what those responses tell us about risk for anxiety, depression, and related conditions. This work uses EEG, psychophysiology, and neuroimaging methods.
Clinical Outcomes & Implementation Research
I conduct large-scale clinical outcomes research to understand how evidence-based treatments perform in routine clinical practice. By analyzing data from thousands of patients, my work identifies what works, for whom, and under what conditions, helping bridge the gap between research findings and everyday clinical care.
Dimensional Psychopathology
I study how psychological symptoms organize across traditional diagnostic boundaries using the Hierarchical Taxonomy of Psychopathology (HiTOP) — a transdiagnostic, dimensional framework for understanding and classifying mental health conditions. My dissertation examines the negative valence system and hierarchical dimensions of psychopathology.
